Choirs @ The Cause

Two choirs meet at The Cause Venue each week:
Lingmara World Music Choir on a Tuesday, and
The Cause Community Choir on a Thursday.

The Choirs @ The Cause are directed by Alexandra Moran.

Starting out as a singer in Lingmara nearly fifteen years ago, Alexandra began to lead small groups and develop close harmony singing styles with music from all over the world.

She has been leading Lingmara and the Cause Community Choir for over ten years.

Alexandra and has helped many people pursue and continue their personal singing journey as individuals and in small groups as well as performing in the choirs.

CCC: The Cause Community Choir

The Cause Community Choir (CCC) meets on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm, in the Auditorium @ The Cause.

The CCC is a fun, open choir which focuses on singing beautiful songs in harmony from the tradition of blues, traditional soul and gospel and lovely arrangements of popular favourites.

Most songs are taught by ear and there is no need to be able to read music. However, sheet music is available for singers who find it helpful and written words are always on hand.

We perform regularly in and around Chippenham and always have a performance at the Cause Christmas Concert (Saturday 14th December 2024 this year) and at the Chippenham Folk Festival (May 2025 next year).

The learning style is fun and relaxed with an emphasis on encouragement to guide new and established singers through their own vocal style and range.

We sing in three and four part harmony, sometimes more, and learn performance techniques along the way.

Pay per session on door. £8

Lingmara: World Music Choir

Lingmara World Music Choir meets every Tuesday in the Hall @ the Cause, 7:30pm-9:30pm

Lingmara World Music Choir is Chippenham’s only world music choir, set up by Elena Winch around 15 years ago who brought beautiful music from all over the world to a then small set of singers.

The choir has grown over the years and currently sings beautiful songs from all over the world including the Balkans,  Polynesian Islands, Africa and even the British Isles!

Lingmara is an acapella choir which focuses on harmony and different cultural singing styles.

Whilst it is not necessary to be able to read music, singing experience is an advantage.

Lingmara performs regularly and has travelled abroad in the past to Lithuania, France and Germany as well as the Folk Festival in Chippenham.

Pay per session on door. £8
